Betty Shepheard Talley

Betty Shepheard Talley, 85 of Rockingham, a loving homemaker, cherished wife, devoted mother and proud grandmother, departed this life on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in the comforting embrace of her daughter Judy's home. Born on August 25, 1939, in Richmond County, Betty filled the world with warmth, nurturing, and faith, leaving behind a legacy that will be forever remembered by her family and friends.

Betty was a woman of deep faith, making it her mission to ensure her children knew Jesus and were active participants in their church. She found joy in gardening, cooking, and participating in her beloved church choir, singing praises to the Lord. Her passion for gardening not only beautified her surroundings but also symbolized the love and care she cultivated within her family, offering support and nourishment through every stage of their lives.

A devoted wife to her husband, Charles Talley, she poured her heart into their shared life, creating a home filled with love and laughter. Betty’s proudest accomplishments were her children, Judy Stedman (Kenny), Chuck Talley, and Lisa Talley (Don Meany) and Danny Talley. She delighted in each moment spent with them, supporting their dreams and celebrating their joys. Her love extended deeply, nurturing her eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, fostering bonds that would last generations.

Betty is survived by her beloved husband, Charles, and their children, who carry forth her spirit of kindness and devotion. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Faye Lynthacum, Carol Smith, Mildred Brady, and Kathleen Lewis, who shared countless cherished memories with her throughout their lives.

Though she is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Arlie Shepheard and Frances Sophie Chappell Shepheard, her son, Ralph A. Shepheard, Jr., and her sisters, Alma Banks and Ruth Sullivan, her spirit continues to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

A visitation will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 2:30 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM, both to be held at Temple Baptist Church in Rockingham, NC. Betty’s legacy of love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will honor her memory through their own acts of kindness and love. She has truly gone to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, surrounded by His everlasting light and grace.
