Betty G. Thompson

Mrs. Betty G. Thompson, 91 of Gay, Georgia, went to heaven on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Mountainside of Warm Springs Assisted Living.

Mrs. Thompson was born on November 13, 1934, in Morrow, Georgia to the late Brackston Gilbert and the late Minnie Craven Gilbert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband for 25 years, Julian Taunton ; father to her son and two step-daughters, Horace Taunton (Vickie), Jean Goepp(John), Becky Boggs (Brady) and her second husband, Bernard Thompson, devoted Husband for 36 years; father to four step children, Barry Thompson, Bonnie Beavers (Red), Beth Mills, John and Bridget Roberson (Mickey). Mrs. Betty Was also loved by one brother and four sisters, William Brackston "Billy" Gilbert (Jeanne) ; sisters Charlotte Courtoy (Larry), Fay Mewborn (Tommy), Mary Cook (Glen) and Susan Linnenkohl (Gerald). She also will be missed by her, Grandchildren, Michelle Goepp, Tonya Taunton, Jason Boggs (Jennifer), Daniel Boggs (Vanessa). Numerous Great Grandchildren and Great, Great Grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Betty was a dedicated employee of Georgia Power where she served for over 30+ years. She was a loyal member of Mount Carmel Church where she served as the church treasurer for many years. Betty was a devout Christian and she loved the Lord with all of her heart. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Visitation for Mrs. Betty will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Mt. Carmel Church, 7477 Mt. Carmel Rd, Gay, GA 30218. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 P.M. in the church sanctuary with Retired Pastor Winston Skinner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
