Betty “Carol” Work, age 79 of Augusta, MO passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on August 27, 1946 in St Louis, and throughout her life, she touched countless hearts with her warmth, selflessness, and gentle spirit.

She is survived by her three loving sons, Brian (Wendy) Tentschert, Bruce Tentschert, and Scott (Vanessa) Tentschert; her cherished grandchildren, Tera and Derek; and her dear sister, Beverly Diepenbrock.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Larry Work.

For over 20 years, Carol dedicated herself to caring for others as a nursing assistant in labor & delivery, where she shared in some of life’s most precious beginnings. Later, she served as an EKG monitor technician at Missouri Baptist Hospital.

In her later years, Carol continued to stay busy cleaning homes for friends and referrals that became like family. She found joy in life’s simplest moments — feeding hummingbirds, celebrating holidays with warmth and delicious meals and showing kindness to every living thing. She was the kind of person who would catch a house spider and gently release it outside, a small act that spoke volumes about her gentle soul.

Carol will be remembered for her selfless heart, deep love for her family, and care to those around her. Her legacy of compassion, strong will and quiet grace will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
