Bettye Jane Batson, age 78, of Clarksville, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Tennova Healthcare.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Gum Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at Gum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2024 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, and again from 12 p.m. until the hour of service at the Gum Springs Baptist Church.
Bettye entered into this life on September 20, 1945, in Cunningham, TN to the late Joseph and Lillian Baggett Bryant. She loved the Lord and cherished her family. Was thought of as a mama to many nieces and nephews and “Mayor” to many. She enjoyed her employment with Jay Garment and was “more interested in having fun than meeting quota.” Bettye was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Batson; sisters, Ernestene Schmittou and Patsy Stagner; brother, Joe Corban Bryant.
Survivors include her son, Darrell (Brandi) Batson; daughter, Donna (Steve) Conklin; grandchildren, Chase (Cala) Cox, Justin (Andrew) Conklin, Joseph Batson, Jacen Conklin; great-grandchildren, Marjorie, Marley; brother, Stevie Bryant.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Batson, Chase Cox, Jacen Conklin, Justin Conklin, Randy Schmittou, and Jeff Stagner.
Memorials may be made to Gum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
