Bettye Trask Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, Fairfield on Dec. 15, 2025.
Bettye Trask was born on January 22, 1942 and went home to Jesus on December 13, 2025. Her parents were James Lockhart and Naomi Granberry, Her grandparents were H.C. and Ruth Granberry. Bettye graduated from Fairfield High School in 1960 and she was very proud of that. She joined the US Navy where she met her husband of 63 years. The service will be held on Saturday December 20, 2025 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Fairfield. Officiating pastor will be Scott Matthews from First Baptist Church in Teague.

Wherever she was she made sure she was a help in some way. Starting when their daughter, Teresa, was little she was the leader of Brownies (Girl Scouts), she sold over 900 boxes. She was also a big part of Teresa's PTO. When they went into the ministry, she involved herself in every aspect of it. I have seen her take part in building a multi-million dollar building for the Albuquerque Rescue Mission. While they were missionaries in the Fiji Islands, she had a great influence on the people of Fiji and the surrounding nations.

After being away from Fairfield for 48 years, upon her return to Fairfield she instantly began to volunteer in multiple organizations like The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, The Cancer Support Group, she was also involved with FISD and TMA, and many other organizations.

She was amazing and had an amazing heart and never met a stranger.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Spain Trask. Her granddaughter Melanie Covert and husband Dennis of Teague, Great Grandchildren Spain Covert and Loressa Covert of Teague. Son in law Thomas Kitsch and wife Melanie of Algodones, NM.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Teresa Kitsch, father James Lockhart, Mother Naomi Clairdge, Stepfather Ralph Clairdge, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
