Beverli Spangler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 8, 2025.
Beverli (Benschop) Spangler, age 90, started her next adventure on Friday, September 5, 2025. She was born on October 25, 1934, the daughter of Hank and Goldie Benschop, and lived most of her life in or near Stoughton.

She married Edward Spangler, and together they had five children. Wanting to keep them out of mischief, they purchased the Monroe A&W in 1975, which was operated until Ed's death in 2003.

For several summers, Bev would take all of the kids on an extended road and camping trip, so that Debbie could participate in dance clinics. Her kids remember her muttering "if I have to stop this car one more time" along the way.

In the early 1970s, Bev took over ownership of the Stoughton H&R Block, where she was a tax preparer for over 25 years, and which is now owned by her son, Scott, and granddaughter, Courtney Rolland.

With retirement, Bev became a worldwide solo traveler, starting with an 8 week trip to Alaska, and trips to China, Antarctica, Russia, Africa, New Zealand and many other countries. She always returned with exotic souvenirs and exciting tales of her escapades. She enjoyed many evenings dancing with Delaine Feggestad (Fegge) and going to midget car races.

She is survived by her sons, Scott (Lynn), Lonn, Robb (Grace), son-in-law Jack Halverson, daughter-in-law Donna, brother Bud (Janine), eight grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her children; Debbie and Todd, grandchildren; Nicki and Josh, former husband Ed, significant other, Delaine Feggestad, her parents and a brother, Red.

Honoring Bev's wishes, no services will be held. Those who knew her will remember her spunk, auburn hair, bright smile, twinkling eyes, meticulous penmanship and a love of jewelry.

The family sincerely thanks the staff at Milestone, especially Laura, and Agrace Hospice for their amazing care.

Safe travels mom, enjoy your trip.
