Beverly Ann Jelks Appleton, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, was called to her eternal rest on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at her home in Jackson, TN, surrounded by her loving husband and family. Born May 18, 1943, in Springfield, TN, Beverly was the daughter of Robert M. and Martha Moore Frey Jelks, who predeceased her.
Beverly was a dedicated and caring individual, serving as a Registered Nurse after graduating from Grove High School in Paris, TN, and the Methodist Hospital of Nursing in Memphis, TN. She embraced her nursing career until she and her husband, Dr. James Roy Appleton, Jr., decided to start their family, at which point she chose to devote her time to being a homemaker. Her punctuality and detail-oriented nature were unrivaled. Further, she was completely dedicated to all of her life roles and loved ones. In all things, she ensured that they were done thoughtfully, thoroughly and correctly. She never took shortcuts and always put everyone before herself. She Always put family first.
Her family was her pride and joy, and she regarded her most significant accomplishments to be those of a loving wife to Roy, a nurturing mother to her three children—Dr. James Roy "Trey" Appleton III and his wife Edith, Traci Lowe and her husband Jeff, and Jill Appleton—and a special grandmother to her grandchildren Mixon Lowe, Savannah Lowe, and Chase Wimer, as well as her step-grandchildren Ethan, Evan, and Elliott Johnson. She is also survived by her brothers, Bobby Jelks and his wife Sylvia and Bill Jelks and his wife Debbie and two sisters, Barbara Moore and Jennifer Teel and her husband Jerome.
Beverly was known for her warm personality, always wearing a smile and offering kind comments to those around her. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, where she contributed her talents to the Adult Choir and served as a former member of the Finance Committee, embodying her commitment to her faith and community.
SERVICES: A memorial gathering celebrating Beverly's life with family and friends will take place on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Scott Gilbert officiating,

Beverly Ann Appleton's life was marked by her nurturing spirit, unwavering love for her family, and deep commitment to her faith. She leaves behind cherished memories that will long be remembered and celebrated by those who knew and loved her.
