COLUMBIA CITY- Beverly Ann (Hughes) Bardey, 77, of North Hampton, Ohio, formerly of rural Columbia City, Indiana, died peacefully in the company of family, at the Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio, on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024.
Born on Oct. 3, 1946, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, she was the only child of the late Robert Hughes and Genevieve (Beard) Nice. Growing up in Fort Wayne, she graduated from North Side High School in 1965.
On Aug. 25,1965, she married Richard Bardey, beginning their 52-year life together, raising four children.They made their first home in Whitley County until Richard transferred to International Harvester Springfield, Ohio, plant after the Fort Wayne plant closed. Richard died on January 15, 2018.
She enjoyed sewing, applique quilting, and cooking. She liked a good romance novel and in more recent years, had become quite proficient at word search puzzles.
Surviving are her daughters, Connie (Chester) Cadwell, of New Carlisle, Ohio, and Nadine (Justin) Erne, of Springfield, Ohio; son, Michael Bardey, of Brookville, Ohio; son-in-law, Jerry Wolfe, of London, Ohio; and grandchildren, Travis (Bobbie), Ryan, Zachary, Joshwa and Jessica.
Additionally, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Annette (Bardey) Wolfe.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
Burial will be beside her husband at Jefferson Chapel/Sandbank Cemetery, Columbia City.
Visitation is from 9 a.m., until the service on Saturday, at the funeral home.
Memorials in Beverly's honor, may be made to the Whitley County Senior Citizen's Center.
