"Bev"

Beverly "Bev" J. (Martin) Crowell passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2021, at the age of 91 in Spencerport, New York. Bev was born March 22, 1930 in Rochester, NY, the only child of Mildred R. Thompson and Norman C. Martin. Bev was a 1948 graduate of Dansville High School, Dansville. She married Walter K. Crowell, son of Alfred and Etta (Stoner) Crowell of West Sparta, NY on March 19, 1949 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dansville. She worked part-time for Market Basket and A&P Food Stores and Western Union in Dansville, while their children were young. In addition to her parents, Bev was also predeceased by the father of her children, Walter K. Crowell (2017); daughter, Darala L. Tobey (1999); two grandsons, Matthew Lambiase and Brandon Crowell; her step-father, Neal O. Dillenbeck; sister, Shirley (Dillenbeck) Laurer; and son-in-law, Pete Nudo.
Bev is survived by daughters, Dawn Nudo and Dani (Jim) Swartz; son, Dean (Cathy) Crowell; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many treasured friends.
She may be remembered as the Girl Scout Leader, who led her troop as they joined another troop from Western New York for a 22 day bus trip from Dansville to Cuernavaca, Mexico, where they joined Girl Scouts and Girl Guides from eight additional countries at Our Cabana, a residential program center, once of four world centers owned by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
Bev retired as a Computer Systems Teacher in 1996 at Monroe2-Orleans BOCES Career and Technical Center (WEMOCO) at Spencerport, NY. She held a BS from SUNY Oswego and MS from Nazareth College. In retirement Bev was an enthusiastic genealogist, completing numerous courses and workshops; writing and publishing the book, "Andrew P. Harter and Margaret Conderman: Their Ancestors and Descendants", as well as teaching genealogy classes and workshops. Bev served as the Historian of the Harter Family Reunion for many years. She was a member of the Arizona State Genealogical and Sun City Tucson Genealogical Society, where she served on both Board of Directors and numerous committees. She was a member of the El Presidio Chapter, Daughter of the American Revolution (DAR), serving as Chapter Registrar.
Interment private at the family's convenience at Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville, New York.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Bev's wishes, the family request that all donations be made to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester (where ALL donations remain locally in search of a cure) in memory of Darala and Shirley. CLICK HERE to donate online.

Through my genealogy research, I just discovered that Bev and I were 5th cousins. I never had the honor of meeting her, but I really wish I had. Wishing the family peace.
