Obituary published on Legacy.com by Glenville Funeral Home - Glenville on Oct. 1, 2025.
Beverly A. Gershon, 85, left this world peacefully after a long period of declining health on September 8, 2025, with her devoted husband, Ellis A. Gershon, by her side in Saratoga Springs, New York. Born on June 3, 1940, in Schenectady, New York, Beverly loved life, made friends easily, and was always concerned about the long parade of pets that they shared over the years. She was also very proud of her Italian heritage, making and sharing ethnic foods using her mother's family recipes.
A graduate of Linton High School in 1958, it was there that she first crossed paths with Ellis Gershon. Though life took them in different directions initially, destiny reunited them at their 20th high school reunion in 1978. Their connection was undeniable, and they married in 1981, forging a bond that would last a lifetime. They celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary the week before she passed.
Beverly was always passionate about her family and her work. She began working in retail at Schenectady's department stores, and later entered the role of bridal consultant. Next, she joined her husband in his family business, Sid Gershon and Sons Foreign Auto Repairs, as a secretary. Her involvement in the antique auto community was notable. She was a member of the A.A.C.A and M.A.A.C. clubs, as well as the C.L.C., where she not only participated but also led with passion, serving as an officer and president. Later in life, she volunteered as a tutor at Burnt Hills Middle School.
Together with Ellis, she reveled in the world of auto shows and travel; their temporary home in Hobe Sound, Florida, became a tropical escape. Beverly also found joy shopping at flea markets and hosting parties, regularly orchestrating gatherings at her home for many years. Beverly's outgoing spirit made her the heart of every party.
Beverly is survived by her loving husband, Ellis A. Gershon, and her children, Robert (Lori) Volpe and Christopher (Maria) Volpe; and grandchildren, Aubrey, Francesca, Christopher, and Lorenzo. She was predeceased by her dear grandson Robbie in a tragic accident, from which she and the family never recovered. Little Robbie will always be remembered. Beverly is also survived by her step-children, Rochelle (Kenneth) Runyon, Russell (Mandy) Gershon, and Michael (Carolyn) Gershon; grandchildren, Tanya (Brendan) Brader, Shaina Runyon, Cyndi (Anatoly) Policastro, Keane Runyon, Logan (Maeghan) Gershon, and Jesse Gershon, Jeffrey Massman and Kara Massman, and 4 great-grandchildren; her cousins; and cherished brother-in-law, Gary Gershon. She was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Angela Martini, and her brother, Nicholas (Sarah) Martini Jr., and her brothers who died in childhood.
Calling hours will be held at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, on Friday, September 19th, from 5 PM to 7 PM, immediately followed by a funeral service at 7 PM. A reception at the home of Brendan and Tanya Brader will follow.
