Christopher Grigsby Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Glenville Funeral Home - Glenville on Feb. 4, 2026.
Christopher Grigsby, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on February 1, 2026, in his hometown of Schenectady, New York. Born on Christmas Day in 1988, Chris lived a life defined by curiosity, intelligence, and deep compassion for the people and ideas that shaped his world.

He was the cherished son of Janet (Phillips) Grigsby and the late Reverend Phillip Grigsby, and a proud 2007 graduate of Schenectady High School. Chris pursued learning with uncommon passion, studying at Clark University, the University of Amsterdam, Rutgers University, The New School, and Baruch College. His academic journey reflected a lifelong devotion to knowledge and thoughtful inquiry.

Chris found his professional home as a copy editor for The Clyde Fitch Report in Astoria, NY, where his sharp mind, precision, and reliability earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike. Outside of work, he was deeply drawn to music - especially the bass guitar - as well as history, architecture, and urban planning. His conversations were rich, insightful, and generous, often weaving together ideas from books, cities, and past civilizations.

Kind, intelligent, and deeply trustworthy, Chris was someone others leaned on - for perspective, for honesty, and for quiet support. He leaves behind his mother, Janet; his brother, Matthew Grigsby; and his many friends.

A calling period will be held Friday, February 6, 2026, from 1:00–2:00 PM at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 185 Swaggertown Rd., Scotia, NY. A service will follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in the spring at Vale Cemetery.
