Elizabeth Greco Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Glenville Funeral Home - Glenville on Feb. 5, 2026.
Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Greco, 99, the matriarch of her family, went to be with the Lord on February 3, 2026. She was born on August 23, 1926, in Granville, New York, to her late parents, John and Margaret Jane (Williams) Smale.

Raised in a close-knit family in Granville, she learned early that family was life's greatest gift-a belief she carried with her every day. Her professional journey included clerical positions at Mica Insulator and the Army Depot before retiring from General Electric as a keypunch operator-a role that brought a smile and reminded others just how much she had witnessed in her lifetime.

A generous soul with a strong and guiding faith, Betty lived her beliefs through service and kindness. She was deeply involved in her churches, Tabernacle and Burnt Hills Baptist Church, where she rarely missed a Sunday service. Her faith led her loving heart in all she did, including volunteering at the food pantry and quietly helping others whenever she could.

Above all else, her purpose on Earth was to be a devoted mother and grandmother. Betty took immense pride in her home, where she lived since 1972, creating a warm and welcoming haven filled with love and laughter; she was truly the heart of every gathering. Sunday dinners were sacred, and this tradition continues in her family.

She was a constant presence in her grandchildren's lives-known lovingly as Grandma, Grammy, Grandma Greco, Grandma Echo, and Gram. She never missed a school event, graduation, or milestone, and her greatest joy was witnessing her grandchildren marry and begin families of their own.

God was good to Betty, and she knew it. She was blessed with many lifelong friends and is now joyfully reunited with them and with the Lord she faithfully served. In her later years, she remained active and social, enjoying time at the Schenectady Senior Center, shopping trips, casino outings, and dancing.

She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband, Albert Greco; her son, Dominick Potts; son-in-law, James Holt; brother, William Williams; and former husband, Dominic Potts.

Betty's legacy lives on in her loving children, Karen Holt and Judy (Ray) Andi; daughter-in-law, Diane Potts; adored grandchildren, Kelly (Mike) Hanson, Timothy (Jennifer) Holt, Scott Andi, Katie (Ian) Cameron, and Jessica (Jeffrey) Muscanell; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, John (Penny) Smale; great-nephew, Richard Williams; several nieces and nephews; and countless lives she touched.

Betty would not want you to be sad, but rejoice that she is home.

Family and friends are welcome to the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd, on Tuesday, February 10th from 11 AM to 1 PM. The Celebration of Life service will begin at 1 PM, followed immediately by burial at Parkview Cemetery in Schenectady.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Judy Ledra " Neighbor"

February 21, 2026

My dear neighbor, Miss Betty, has peacefully returned to her eternal home. It's hard to find the words to express how much she meant to me. She was truly the strongest woman I´ve ever known, radiating love and empathy in everything she did. Over the past nine years, we shared countless heartfelt conversations on her porch, moments I will cherish forever.

I will deeply miss her beautiful spirit and kind heart. Mama, may your sweet soul rest in peace for all time. You will always hold a special place in my thoughts. I´ll forever remember your warm smile and gentle voice. I hope the flower seeds I planted in your front yard bloom as a tribute to your memory. Live on in peace, my dear queen. You will be missed always, but your spirit will remain forever in my heart. #alwaysinmyheart #foreverinheaven
