Glenn Kinns Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Glenville Funeral Home - Glenville on Feb. 21, 2026.
Glenn Thomas Kinns, 65, a man of boundless love, humor, and unmistakable spirit, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on February 19, 2026, in Glenville, New York.

Born on October 14, 1960, in Schenectady, New York, Glenn was the beloved son of the late Glenn and Joan (Fawthrop) Kinns. He graduated from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School in 1978, where his life revolved around the baseball diamond. From a young age, Glenn dreamed big - and chased those dreams with determination, talent, and heart.

He attended Union College, where he played baseball before being signed by the Montreal Expos. He pitched from 1981 through 1985, climbing the minor league ranks to AAA, and retired in West Palm Beach. Glenn was a talented pitcher, passionate competitor, and lifelong student of the game. He proudly taught baseball legend Randy Johnson his signature move - a story he never tired of telling and others never tired of hearing.

During those years, Glenn maintained a long-distance relationship with his high school classmate, the former Corinne Schorr. Their relationship was built on baseball games, concerts, traveling, and laughter. After his professional baseball career, the two were married and began building the life they had long dreamed of together. Glenn returned to Union College and completed his Bachelor's Degree in English. Throughout his life, he had a deep appreciation for literature and poetry.

The couple settled in Rotterdam, where Glenn worked for Willbrook Detailing, and eventually moved on to the next chapter at Upstate Detailing Inc, where he worked on iconic projects like the Brooklyn Bridge alongside his lifelong best friend, Dan Walsh.

In 1989, Glenn and Corinne moved to Glenville to raise their family, which he considered his greatest accomplishment. Baseball remained a central part of his life, but now from the dugout rather than the mound. Glenn devoted countless hours to coaching - from Little League and BH Rec Baseball. He cherished mentoring young athletes and teaching them not just the mechanics of the game, but also love for the sport. Throughout his life, he played baseball for the Varisty team at BHBL, Connie Mack, Union College, and Schenectady Sons of Italy (Albany Twilight League).

Outside the field, Glenn was a movie guru who could recite monologues at a moment's notice - often alongside his son. He collected baseball cards and coins, enjoyed golfing, vacationing with his family, and faithfully cheered on his beloved New York Yankees.

Above all else, Glenn was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Corinne Kinns; his children, David (Jessica) Kinns, Michele Leitze, and Tricia (Nathan) Morgan; and his cherished grandchildren, Ryan and Owen Kinns, Connor Leitze, and Evelyn Morgan.

He is also survived by his siblings, Dawn (James) Strazzeri and Craig (Lynda) Kinns; brothers-in-law Jeffrey Schorr and his partner Chrissy Auger, and Gregg (Pamela) Schorr; sister-in-law Linda Schorr; his father- and mother-in-law Marvin and Patricia (Restifo) Schorr; and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was predeceased by his son-in-law, Eric Leitze.

Glenn will be remembered as a mentor, a competitor, and a man whose love for his family and the game of baseball defined his life. His legacy lives on in every player he coached, every story he told, and every laugh that echoed.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Glendale Home, Union Station section, for their loving care.

Calling hours will be held at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, on Friday, February 27th, from 4 to 6:30 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 6:30 PM.

Memorial donations may be made to the City Mission of Schenectady, City Mission PO Box 760, Schenectady, NY 12301. Online condolences at glenvillefuneralhome.com
