Beverly J. Gherardi

Beverly J. Gherardi, 86, of Hibbing, Minn., passed away at her home on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

She was born in Perham, Minn., on February 1, 1939, to Lester and Helen (Stich) Markwardt. Beverly grew up in the Pear Lake area outside of Coleraine, Minn., and graduated from Greenway High School in 1957.

She was a woman of deep faith and was grateful for her church family. Beverly was active with the Widow's of Prayer and Grandparent's Ministry groups. She loved her family deeply and adored her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed their sporting events and activities. Beverly was hardworking as she shoveled snow at her home and mowed her lawn until she was in her early 80's. She was an excellent cook and baker and even though not Italian she learned the art of Italian cooking from her mother and sisters in law. She even baked her own bread. In her earlier years, she enjoyed fishing on Big Winnie with her husband Roger.

Beverly is survived by her daughters Connie (Greg) Toscano and Cindy (Richard) Walker, Roger's children Barbara Bjellos and Robert (Barb) Gherardi and grandchildren Nicholas, Alex, Rachel, Sam, Tom, Karie and Janel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roger and brother Bill Markwardt.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Hibbing, Minn. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing, Minn.
