Beverly Graber Obituary

Beverly Beyette Graber, age 91, passed away on December 20, 2024. Beverly is survived by her son, Brett Bennett, stepson David Graber, and David's two children Emma and Nicolas Graber. In addition to being a loving and supportive member of her family, Beverly was also a distinguished journalist and author who, over many decades, interviewed luminaries such as Rosa Parks, the Beatles, Ronald and Nancy Reagan, Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter, and many others. Beverly Graber began her long journalistic career with The San Diego Union and then became a staff writer for over 30 years at The Los Angeles Times. Beverly wrote a column called "Around Town" and journeyed all around the world while writing for the Times' travel section. She co-wrote the best-selling book "Brain Lock" with Dr. Jeffrey M. Schwartz for people who suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder. The book, first published in 1996 and updated in 2016, is still in print and has helped thousands.
Beverly loved to help others and contribute to her community. After retiring from the Times, she worked as a volunteer at the Getty Center, St. John's Hospital, The Skirball Center, Los Angeles International Airport, and the Annenberg Community Beach House. Her family and friends will remember Beverly fondly as a classy, intelligent, and warm individual who touched the lives of many.

We are shocked and so very sad to learn that Beverly passed away. We met in our complex and for more than 6 years we played bridge with Beverly every Friday evening, taking turns hosting, sharing stores, great desserts and every day challenges... But above all, her friendship, style and calm, serene nature will be remembered.
We are thankful to have known her.

Brett
I was deeply saddened to hear about your mom´s passing. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. She was such a remarkable person, and her kindness and warmth touched so many lives. She was my neighbor and my Bridge partner, very classy, well dressed and attractive lady.

Condolences on behalf of the Wahl Family. Marie Wahl - 2013, and Bud Wahl - 2024, my parents, were old-time friends in Coronado. We had so many years of fun together with "Auntie B."

Aunt Beverly was a lovely, gracious, welcoming, and wonderfully fun person to be with. She was a hostess who made everything seem effortless and a travel companion who made plans gone awry seem part of the adventure. I feel so fortunate to have had her in my life.

Beverly was my beloved aunt-Auntie B. She was elegant, witty, and above all, authentic in all the best ways. Brett, her son and my cousin, asked me recently if his mother had inspired me. The answer is yes. In every way she inspired me by her example and her kindness. I will miss her. Always.

Beverly was so much fun to be with, and to travel with. She joined us for a month in Paris 10 years ago, and taught us by example how to really enjoy the city: not by rushing from site to site, but by wandering the streets, stopping in a cafe, soaking it all in. Auntie B was the best and she will be so missed.
