Beverly J. Horstmann

Beverly "Bev" Horstmann, 73, of Maryville, IL, passed away on May 12, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Born on June 26, 1951, in Belleville, IL, Bev lived a full and joyful life, marked by her creativity, sense of adventure, and deep devotion to her family. She had an eye for detail and worked as an Area Manager for Hallmark greeting cards.
Bev was a woman of many passions. She enjoyed visiting horse racing venues across the country, exploring new places through travel, and never missed an opportunity for a good shopping trip or dinner out. She found joy in making stained glass pieces, and her hands were rarely still-especially when crafting something special for her grandchildren. A talented seamstress, she lovingly designed and sewed countless Halloween costumes that became cherished memories.
Planning vacations was one of Bev's favorite things - she believed in the magic of making memories and brought excitement and care to every journey she organized.
Bev's warmth, humor, and generosity touched everyone she met. She was the heart of her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Geraldine (nee Nadler) Richter.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Horstmann, whom she married April 6, 1974; three children: Shelley (Tim) Hess of Marine, IL, Lesley (Gabe) Wise of Glen Carbon, IL and Kyle (Amanda) Horstmann of St. Jacob, IL; eight grandchildren: Carson, Hayden and Delaney Hess, Alyssa, Kenley and Kipton Wise, Greer and Reines Horstmann; two brothers: Gary Richter of FL and Allan (Mary) Richter of Mascoutah, IL.
Memorial visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.
Memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. A private graveside will be held at Mascoutah City Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be received at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
