Ray Thompson Clancy, 88, of Collinsville, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2025, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

He was born on May 18, 1937, in Christopher, IL, to the late Phillip Thompson and Wealthy Mae (nee Eads) Clancy.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Roscoe Clancy; his sister, Nina Mae Hampton; and his grandson, Robert Thompson Uding.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice Pepper Clancy, whom he married on May 17, 1977; his son, Michael H. (Kris) Clancy; three daughters, Carmen Uding, Shannon Kaye (Darrell) Woodard, and Kathleen E. Harold; stepson, David Pepper; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Ray graduated from Christopher High School in 1954 and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He worked as a successful sales manager in the auto industry for many years.

A dedicated member of the community, Ray was a top-level Mason and a faithful member of Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville where he was a member of the finance committee. He had a lifelong passion for sports - coaching, officiating basketball and football games, and cheering on his favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL, and again from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Robinson officiating. A luncheon will be held immediately after the service at the church.

Private burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meadow Heights Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice. Contributions will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
