Beverly June Jackson-Reingold, born March 8th, 1942, to Iola and Erwin Taylor in Detroit, Michigan, passed away at the age of 83. Beverly was a woman who lived life with an energy and flair that made her completely unforgettable. She wasn't just a mother, grandmother, or great-grandmother-she was a force of nature with a zest for life that left you wondering if she was secretly trying to squeeze every adventure possible into one lifetime.
In 1949, Beverly and her family moved to
Salmon, Idaho, the town where her mother, Iola, had grown up. Iola was from the big flat. Beverly attended school in Salmon from elementary through high school, where she developed a love for beauty, style, and a good, long adventure.
Beverly married Bob Jackson in 1959, and together they had three children: Kim, Juliann, and Jami. Sadly, Kim and Jami passed away at a young age. In her later years, Beverly's relationship with her surviving daughter, Juliann, blossomed over breakfasts in town and trips to the store. Beverly had a soft spot for Juliann's jewelry. Juliann was her only surviving child, and that connection, however understated, was deeply important to her.
Beverly's true passion, however, was found in oil painting. She spent countless hours creating beautiful works of art, though she also had a love for music, shoes, and playing the piano. Beverly was the kind of woman who enjoyed life's little luxuries, whether it was a new pair of heels or a tune that made her tap her foot. But what she's probably most remembered for is her career as a beautician. She worked side-by-side with her mother, running Ike's Beauty Shop, making sure everyone had the perfect hair and makeup-even when they didn't ask for it.
Beverly's circle of friends included Susan Blodgett, Esther Snook, and Ginger Herndon, and she was known for her spontaneous, lively personality. She loved a good road trip-preferably long and unpredictable. If you were lucky enough to be along for the ride, you could count on the fact that Beverly didn't believe in short trips. Her beloved cat, Simone, often came along for these adventures, and it was rare for Beverly to take any journey without turning it into an extended escapade.
Beverly wasn't one to shower people with praise, but she had a deep respect for her son-in-law, Michael Kelly, and appreciated all his qualities. She was a proud grandmother to Kate Phillips Maul, Brice Kelly, and Hillary Kelly Livingston, and a great-grandmother to Lauren Maul, Mason Maul, Ella Livingston, and Megan Livingston. She was also an aunt to Andrea and Angie Taylor.
Beverly was a huge fan of detective novels and crime-related TV shows. If there was a mystery to solve, you could count on Beverly to be right there, analyzing the clues and offering her opinion-often with a Coke in hand.
In her later years, Beverly married Melvin Reingold, and the two shared many more adventures together.
Beverly leaves behind a legacy of independence, self-reliance, and a refusal to settle for ordinary. Her spontaneous spirit, love of adventure, and ability to make even the simplest of moments memorable will never be forgotten. She's the kind of person who lived for the thrill of the unknown, the excitement of life's surprises, and who could always be counted on for a good laugh.
Rest in peace, Grandma Beverly-you've certainly earned your final, lengthy road trip. She is preceded in death by her son Kim Jackson, daughter Jami Jackson, brother Mort Taylor, mother Iola Bolander-Taylor, and father Erwin Taylor.
A celebration of Life will be 1pm April 18, 2025 the Sacajawea center in Salmon.
In lieu of flowers, Beverly would appreciate donations to the Mahoney House in her honor, or simply take a spontaneous road trip with a good book, a Coke, and a sense of unpredictability-just like she would have wanted.
