Watertown, WI - Beverly J. Kurtz passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek at the age of 93.
Born November 21, 1931, to Agnes (Jurick) and Leslie Blank in Watertown, Wisconsin, Beverly will be remembered for her joyful laugh, sharp wit, and determined nature. She attended Watertown High School and in her teen years, Bev particularly enjoyed and excelled at roller skating, spending countless hours perfecting her techniques with a skating partner at the roller rink in Watertown. As a dedicated worker, Bev was employed as a waitress at the Chalet Restaurant and Washington Inn Hotel in Watertown for many years while also raising nine boisterous children. Bev also enjoyed spending time with her husband, Eugene, and she reveled in their annual vacations to Glidden, Wisconsin. Finding joy in simple things like taking her chances with casino slot machines, pull tab lotteries, and Miller beer, Bev also enjoyed being with her family and planning holiday parties. For many years she shopped year-round to ensure each and every one of her children, their spouses, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren received unique and special Christmas gifts.
Bev was the devoted and loving wife of Eugene Kurtz, and she will be deeply missed by her eight surviving children Patricia (Pat) Moretti, Deborah (Duane) Strauss, David (Gail) Bates, Denise (Eugene) Yogerst, Daniel (Kristy) Bates, Brian (Laura) Bates, Craig Kurtz, Brent Kurtz, 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, half-brother Kenneth (Denise) Hazen, half sisters Betty (Jim) Block and Barb Donarski, in addition to other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene, her daughter Linda DePover, her parents Leslie and Agnes, her brother Robert Blank and sister-in-law Marvel Lou, and two nephews Todd and Mark Blank.
A celebration of Bev's life will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church at 215 N 6th Street in Watertown at 10:30 a.m., and family and friends may call on the church for visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown following the service.
