Beverly Kurzawa, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 29, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on October 4, 1939, in Euclid to the late William and Freda Nixon (nee Lest). Beverly was the eldest of three siblings and grew up in a loving family. She displayed remarkable strength and resilience throughout her life, which she shared with so many who were lucky enough to know her.
Beverly's professional journey began as a secretary for the FBI, where she met her former spouse, Edmund James Kurzawa. Throughout her career, she worked for esteemed organizations such as the Austin Company and Associated Estates. In 1974, she embarked on her entrepreneurial path by founding Great Eastern Builders along with several other companies. Her business flourished under her dedicated leadership, and she proudly served as President for over 50 years. Beverly often expressed that she never worked a day in her life, as she truly loved what she did.
A woman of vibrant spirit, Beverly enjoyed life's pleasures afforded by her dedication and hard work. She had a fondness for a glass of wine while watching Lawrence Welk, Wheel of Fortune, or listening to her favorite polkas. Her adventurous heart led her to travel extensively, particularly relishing the warmth of her home in Florida and memorable journeys in her RV. In her younger years, she embraced outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and bowling. Yet, her greatest joy came from her family; she loved deeply and cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.
Beverly is survived by her three children: Colleen Kurzawa, Cheryl (Greg) Krejci, and Edmund William Joseph Kurzawa; her four wonderful grandchildren: Gregory (Julie) Krejci, Bradly Krejci, Zachary Krejci, and Olivia Kurzawa; and her precious great-granddaughter, Violet. She also leaves behind her sister Maureen (Joe) Poch, her nephew Clifford (Ellen), her nieces Dainelle and Tina (Vince), and countless dear friends who will miss her warmth and laughter. Beverly was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Reichtell, and former spouse, Edmund, whom she remained close to until the end.
Friends and family will gather to on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 3 to 7 PM at Monreal Srnick Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd, Eastlake, OH 44095. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Noon at St. Anselm Church, 12969 Chillicothe Rd, Chesterland, OH 44026. Beverly will be laid to rest at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon. Together, we will honor the legacy of a wonderful woman whose spirit and love will always remain in our hearts.
