Beverly Jean Lancial

Beverly Lancial, 93, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. She was born to James and Katherine Sykora on April 23, 1928. She graduated from East High School in 1946. After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper at various offices. Later in life she worked at the State of Iowa Department of Transportation and retired in 1995.
In 1948 Bev met Albert Leroy Lancial. On January 14, 1949 they married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Des Moines where they remained devoted members throughout their lives. They were married 58 years when Al passed away in 1998. She was blessed with three children, three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Bev and Al met at a dance and "danced their way through life". They loved the big band sound and regularly attended the VFW Hall as well as the Riveria, Val Air and Lake Robbins Ballrooms. They loved all forms of dance including the fox trot, waltz, jitter bug, cha-cha, samba, tango, rumba, square dancing and round dancing. They were also members of the Polka Club of Iowa and Croation Center for many years.
Bev joined Eastgate Eastern Star Lodge in 1963 and has remained a member for over 50 years. She served as an officer two different times. One year as Star Point Ada and another year as Star Point Electa. She was also a member of Northgate Eastern Star.
Bev also enjoyed playing cards at the various senior centers around Des Moines.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Monica Hyland; son, Kevin (Julie) Lancial; granddaughters, Lisa (Shay) Noel and Jessica (Becky) Lancial; great grandchildren, Brayden and Presley Noel.
Beverly is predeceased by her husband, Albert; son, Gregory Lancial; grandson, Eric Lancial; son-in-law, Tom Hyland; brother, Stanley Sykora; and sister, Bernadine Swim.
The family will greet friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Grandview Park Funeral Home, 3211 Hubbell Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50317. Bev's funeral will begin at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel with a procession to Highland Memory Garden's Cemetery, Des Moines, for interment following.
