Beverly Larsson
Beverly Louise Larsson went home to be with the Lord on January 1, 2024, at the age of 102. Beverly was born on July 2, 1921 to Cashus and Martha Phillips and had three siblings, William, Bobbie, and Virginia. She attended school in Clatskanie, Newberg, Gold Hill, and graduated from North Bend High School in 1939 with the class Scholarship Medal.
Beverly met Richard "Dick" Larsson at a dance in Marshfield (Coos Bay). Money came hard back then. As Mom would tell the story, Dick would work to earn a little money to take her on a date and, after dropping her off at her house, he would have to leave his car and walk home until he earned enough money for gasoline and the next date. Dick was persistent in his courtship and they were married on January 11, 1941. After World War II, they returned to Coos Bay to raise their growing family while Dick worked for Marshall Wells and, later, Coast-to-Coast Hardware stores. Dick's work had him on the road and away from home too much.
In 1960, they moved to Gold Beach after purchasing the local Coast-to-Coast Hardware store. Mom always said that they moved to Gold Beach to both get Dad off the road and for the educational and extracurricular opportunities Gold Beach offered their children.
After selling the hardware store, Mom and Dad were true road warriors, traveling all around the state following their children and grandchildren compete in a multitude of athletic and equestrian events. Their efforts were recognized in 1996, when they were named Grandparents of the Year by the Oregon Wrestling Association. Mom loved her Oregon Ducks football. She attended dozens of home games even late into her 90s and would never miss a game on television. While she loved all of these activities, she really just wanted to continue being involved with her family. Mom was our rock. She was defined by her warmth and caring, her values, the importance of family, and her belief in God.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Richard Larsson, Sr. and her oldest Son, Richard Larsson, Jr. She is survived by five children and their spouses, William "Bill" Larsson and wife, Debi; Laurence "Larry" Larsson and wife, Emery; Brian Larsson and wife, Teri; Jill Bell and husband, Tad; Jan Hayes and husband, Storm, and daughter-in-law, Pam Larsson.
She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, extended family members, and numerous close friends. If you asked Mom, her family were all angels and could do no wrong.
Services for Beverly will be held on Saturday, January 13th at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, 29755 Turner Street, in Gold Beach. Beverly was always proud of her family's involvement in search and rescue. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Curry County Search and Rescue.
