MARQUETTE, MI - Our beloved, Lance Larsson, age 70, of Marquette, passed away November 18, 2025.
Born July 30, 1955, in Marquette to Julius and Geraldine (Higgins) Larsson, Lance was a lifelong resident of the community he cherished. He graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1973 and later attended technical school, becoming a master mechanic. There was nothing Lance couldn't fix-cars, tools, the house, anything that broke. His hands were always working, and he never sat still unless he absolutely had to.
On June 20, 1980, Lance married the love of his life, Patti Kunick, and together they built a beautiful life defined by devotion, humor, and shared adventures. For 45 years, Patti was his partner in everything-from raising their daughter to traveling to Florida, spending time on the lake, and weathering life's toughest moments.
Lance worked many years for the City of Marquette and was known as a dedicated, reliable, and hardworking employee. Outside of work, his passions defined him. He loved racing dirt bikes, motorcycle riding, and ice racing in the winters. He enjoyed countless races with his close buddies Dwayne, Jason, Corky, and others-memories that took him all over the country, including Bike Week in Daytona. He also ice raced with George and his brother Kirk in Escanaba. Lance was a true daredevil at heart, but always one with the biggest heart.
He was happiest outdoors-hunting, riding, walking in the woods, enjoying the lake, and swimming in the cold, clear water of Lake Superior with his family. He especially treasured cool beach nights, sunrises and sunsets. He loved their pool and hosting family during the summers.
Lance had a deep love for animals. He never met one he didn't care for. He once rescued a stray rabbit, bringing it inside to nurse it back to health, until it chewed through the ice maker line and flooded the basement. He even jumped into freezing Lake Superior to save a stranded deer, risking his own safety without hesitation. His compassion was instinctive and sincere.
His greatest joy in life was his family-especially his daughter, Angela. The two shared a strong, unbreakable bond. Their favorite moments were spent simply walking in the woods, swimming together, and enjoying a steak dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Later in life, Lance found a new source of pride and happiness in his only granddaughter, Harlow. He loved watching her grow, attending her volleyball games at the MSHS gym, and spending time with her when she was young. She was incredibly special to him.
Lance faced many challenges in later years, including complications from MD and Parkinson's disease, which he endured with quiet strength. Through it all, he continued to show his love through actions-always fixing, helping, supporting, and caring for those around him. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, it meant something. He believed deeply that it was better to show love than simply say it.
Lance is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patti Larsson; his daughter Angela Davis and son-in-law Nick Davis; and his beloved granddaughter Harlow Davis. He is also survived by his brother Kirk Larsson and wife LeAnne, along with many close friends who were like family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Geraldine and Julius Larsson, his in-laws Carol and Albert Kunick, and his sister Julie Larsson Magadanz.
Honoring Lance's wishes, no funeral will be held. A private summer burial will be announced at a later date.
Lance leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, hard work, and quiet heroism. His heart, his humor, and his steady presence will be forever missed.
