Beverly D. Williams Lavan, age 65, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025 in a Lafayette hospital. She was born February 28, 1960 in Kinder, Louisiana to Henry Sylvester Williams Sr. and Miller Mae Harmon. A resident of Lake Charles, she was a member of Christian Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Oberlin High School.
Beverly worked in the restaurant industry most of her career until her health would not allow her to do so. She was an exceptional cook. When she was no longer able to work outside the home, Beverly took on the responsibility of taking care of and being there for her family through constant reminders, checking on her family regularly and sharing daily texts & phone calls with family and friends. Beverly was always concerned about her family's well-being and daily activities. Beverly actively participated in the Lake Charles Senior Center.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Alisha Lavan, and bonus daughters, Brandy Frank and Santanna Frank; and other son, Tony Frank; father, Henry Sylvester Williams Sr.; sisters, Sheri Williams, Kizzy Citizen, Anquanetta Citizen, Dominique Citizen, Catrece Williams Simien, Patricia Williams, Charlesetta Simien (Mark) & Serina Declouiet; brothers, Carl Williams, Joseph (Jessica) Citizen, Eric (Anna) Citizen, David (Jamie) Citizen, DeMarcus Citizen, Gerald (Brooklyn) Citizen, Cheyenne Citizen, Chad (Dianna) Williams Sr., and Henry (Allison) Williams Jr.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Timothy Lavan Lemoine, Keshawna Benjamin, Je'Lacy Benjamin, Tarvares McGregor Jr., Justin Ortiz, Savannah Benjamin, Cameron Cotton, Caleb Cotton, Khalayah Cotton, J'Niya Lyons & Mateo Lyons; her caregiver, Dawn McDaniel; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by son, Timothy Earl Lavan; mother, Miller Mae Citizen; husband, Joseph Frank Jr, step-dad, Ernest Citizen; and sisters, Sally Artist, Mya Sam, and Deborah Barker.
The family will welcome relatives and friends on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Christian Baptist Church (202 N. Franklin Street, Lake Charles) with visitation beginning at 09:00 until 11:00 a.m. and her Celebration of Life beginning immediately thereafter. Burial will be immediately following at St. John Community Cemetery in Kinder. Pastor Edward Alexander Jr. will officiate.
