Russell J. Lavan, aged 56, passed away on May 28, 2025. Known for his fun spirit and generosity, he touched the hearts of all who knew him. Born on September 10, 1968, Russ' life was one characterized by the love he had for his family, his passion for his work, and his deep connections with life-long friends.
Russ' memory is cherished by his mother, Pat, who will miss the warmth and care of her son deeply. He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Patti and her husband Dean, Jeanne, and Eileen, who will continue to hold him in their hearts. Russ was a dedicated uncle, and his seven nephews and nieces, along with cousins, aunt, and uncle will miss his spirit and commitment to family. He always held his daughter, Jenna Lavan, close to his heart. Russ was predeceased by his father, Thomas Russell Lavan, and it is with a sense of peace and humor that his family imagines their reunion.
Russ grew up in Carmel, graduated from Manhattan University, and lived most of his life in Manhattan's Upper East Side. Russ was known for his entrepreneurial spirit and his ability to connect with people. He loved working in Financial Analytics Software and the relationships he gained through it. He supported many charitable organizations and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Russ was an unwavering Giants fan and avid cyclist, who reveled in any time spent outdoors, including golfing, fishing, sailing, hiking, time at the Jersey Shore, walking through Central Park, or sharing his favorite spots across the city. He also enjoyed cooking and looked forward to soft shell crab season!
His smile and quick wit were enjoyed by everyone who knew him. Russ brought brightness to the lives of others, and though he has left this world too soon, the memories he created will be treasured forever.
