John S. Klingner Sr., 75, passed away on December 8, 2025 in Purdy's, NY. Born on August 26, 1950, in
Shenandoah, PA, to the late Alvin and Jean (Schaeffer) Klingner. He had three siblings, Alfred, Richard, and Glenn Klingner.
After graduating from high school, John discovered his passion for craftsmanship. He was a mechanic at P.F. Beal & Sons Well Drilling in
Brewster, NY. Shortly after he became a caretaker at Rock Ridge Farms in
Kent, NY, where his skill and attentiveness were well regarded. In addition, he was a talented carpenter and an expert in roofing & siding, professions in which he took great pride and enjoyment. John's reliable and handy nature made him an indispensable member of any team.
Above all, his most precious role was that of a father and grandfather. John's two children, Sharon Amalfitano (Mike) and John Klingner (Yadira), were the light of his life. The joyous arrival of his treasured grandchildren, Chase and Caden, added new meaning to his days and he cherished every moment he spent with them.
One of John's greatest joys was found in the world of classic cars. A huge car show enthusiast, he could spend hours discussing the intricate details and history of vintage models. John was more than just a hobbyist; he was an aficionado whose love for classic cars was only matched by his breadth of knowledge about them.
As a true jack-of-all-trades, John's advice and assistance were often sought after by friends and neighbors. He was known for his ability to fix just about anything. His passing will leave a void in the lives of those who knew him, but his memory will live on through the shared stories and laughter that he brought into our lives.
John S. Klingner Sr. was a man who lived life fully, with his hands skillfully guided by a wise and generous spirit. As we bid farewell to John, we celebrate a life beautifully constructed, much like the many projects he poured his soul into. He will be deeply missed.
