Beverly A. Lebowitz ObituaryBeverly A. Lebowitz (nee Kellam) of Mentor, Ohio, peacefully passed away at home on Friday, September 5, 2025, after a brief illness.
Born on December 8, 1942, in Cleveland to Howard and Marie Kellam, Beverly was a proud graduate of The Andrews School (class of 1962), where she focused her studies on food service. After graduation, she worked in several positions in the food industry, and in 1975, she became the dietary supervisor at the former Lake County Memorial Hospital in Painesville, Ohio. Beverly continued to serve in various roles, including as a dietary supervisor in two nursing homes, before transitioning into healthcare finance. In the early 1990's, she began working as a financial counselor at the former Mednet in Euclid, Ohio, and later retired from University Hospitals of Cleveland in 2006.
Beverly had many passions that enriched her life and those around her. She loved creating beautiful flower beds and had a remarkable green thumb when it came to house plants. She took joy in crocheting baby blankets for friends and family, gifting them with love and care. Her legendary mayonnaise cake and impeccable housekeeping skills were a source of pride, but more recently, she enjoyed the quiet pleasures of reading, solving word searches and crosswords, watching Guardians baseball and visiting with her grandchildren.
What truly defined Beverly, however, was her warmth and hospitality. She was happiest when surrounded by loved ones and friends, always making sure that her home was a welcoming and joyful place for all who entered.
Beverly was the devoted mother of Shelley (Kurt) Weber and Scott (Stephanie) Lebowitz. She was the cherished grandmother of Matthew (Sarah) Weber, Nina Weber, Bill (Lindsay) Dakan, and Kody Dakan, and a beloved great-grandmother to Whitley and Ryker. Beverly was also a dear aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews, who will remember her fondly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Marie Kellam, and her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia (George) DeVeny.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Avenue (on the grounds of the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 4:00 p.m. Burial at Mentor Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to Beverly's favorite charities:
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Joseph's Indian School in South Dakota.
