Dr. Beverly Ann Lorren

Dr. Beverly Ann Lorren passed away on March 6, 2025, after a long illness. She was born in Anniston, Alabama and grew up in Huntsville, the daughter of Robert and Ann Lorren. Beverly was a dedicated student and majorette, graduating from Lee High School with honors before going on to earn her bachelor's degree in education from Peabody College, now Vanderbilt University. Beverly subsequently obtained her Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Florida. She was proud to be a Florida Gator and continued to cheer on the Gators even after returning to Alabama.

The daughter of two educators, Beverly also spent her professional career in education, serving as a teacher, grant writer, researcher and public school system educator. At the time, she was the youngest elementary school principal in the state. Under her innovative leadership, her school was awarded the prestigious Little Red Schoolhouse award.

Beverly had a remarkable memory and a penchant for remembering the names of the many people she encountered along her life's walk-first, middle and last names-- not only of prominent people in her life, but also those of aides, nurses, caregivers, everyone! Her legacy, however, was her singing.

In her retirement years, Beverly enjoyed singing and would treat those she encountered to lovely hymns sung in a rich and powerful alto voice. Bold in her faith, Beverly often used hymns as a vehicle to share her strong hope and faith in Jesus. Beverly felt that her singing voice was a gift from God to bless others and keep herself calm in the midst of life's challenges. Even in moments of weakness or fear, she would summon the strength to sing for surgeons and caregivers alike. One of her most well-known phrases was, "May I sing you a song?" She is now most assuredly adding her sweet voice to a choir of angels.
