Beverly McCulloch Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 7, 2025.
Beverly McCulloch, caring mother, wife and cherished friend, passed away on August 11, 2025, at The Brickyard care center of La Porte, Indiana. She was born Beverly Jean Witt on June 15, 1937, in Alburnette, Iowa, to Clarence and Carribelle Witt, and spent her life creating lasting memories with her family and friends.

Beverly married Robert McCulloch on October 30, 1955, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Bob and Bev began their life together in Oskaloosa, quickly followed by a move to Eddyville, Iowa where Bob began working at the generating station for ISU electric utility company. From there Bob and Beverly raised three children, with moves to Burlington, Iowa, Willingboro, New Jersey, and finally settling in Laporte, Indiana in 1974.

She is survived by her daughter, Megan McCulloch, sons, Jeffrey (Carol) McCulloch and James McCulloch. Beverly took great pride in her role as a grandmother to Nicholas McCulloch and as a great-grandmother to Dalynne and Aviana.

Beverly also held dear the connections with her siblings and their families: Wayne (Margaret) Witt, Linda (Jerry) Shipley, and Esther (Larry) Churchill. Important in this group as well, are nieces on the McCulloch side of the family, and many members of the Bos family from What Cheer. A lover of travel, Beverly frequently visited her family at Iowa gatherings.

Beverly dedicated 25 years of her life to her career as a clerk at Hallmark before retiring in 2006, greatly enjoying those years when the mall at Laporte was thriving, where many people would probably remember her from.

Beverly was a keeper of lifelong friends, and leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and cherished memories. She will be remembered for her famous peanut brittle recipe, which converted many people into enjoying the treat, who previously may not have been a fan of that particular snack. She will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday October 18 at 11:00A.M. at McFarlan Cemetery in What Cheer, Iowa, with Pastor John Bacon officiating.

Please join the family following the graveside service at the What Cheer Methodist Church at 12:00P.M. for a luncheon and a time to gather to celebrate Beverly's life.
