Beverly McCurdy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremations Services, Inc. - Wesleyville from Jan. 18 to Jan. 19, 2024.
Beverly Ann Nece McCurdy, 86, of Erie, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. She was born in Erie on May 21, 1937, daughter of the late T. Myron and Linnie Nece.

A graduate of Wesleyville High School Class of 1955, Beverly went on to attend the Orra-Jean Beauty Academy and began a career as a beautician, later becoming Manager of Roberts Hairdressing Salon in Erie, PA. She married Russell A. McCurdy on June 29, 1963, at Wesley United Methodist Church and a few short years later started a family. After raising her three children, Beverly went on to work for Iroquois Elementary school in the cafeteria, then for Erie Homes for Children and Adults. Her greatest pride and joys in life were her faith, family, and many friends. She was a constant loving and faithful Christian and mother. She was a lifelong member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir for many years and participated in many Bible Studies.

In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her brother, James Nece; ex-husband, Russell; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her three children, Jeffrey McCurdy of Erie, Barbara (Jeff) Heim of Girard, and Bradley (Ruth) McCurdy of Erie; two grandchildren, Lauren McCurdy and Luke McCurdy; sister-in-law, Judy Nece of Irmo SC; cousin, Jean Farren of Louisville, KY (she and Jean grew up and remained closer than most sisters); step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the staff of Brevillier Village, Ball Pavilion, and Hospice services of Community Nursing Services of North East for their sincere care for Beverly and her family.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Friday from 3 to 7 pm and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Saturday at 11 am. Interment will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the ANNA Shelter, 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, PA 16511.
