Beverly Lou McKanna

Medicine Lodge - Beverly Lou McKanna, 86, passed away Friday, December 12, 2025 at Western Prairie Health and Rehab in Ulysses. She was born on June 6, 1939 in Kiowa to Chester and Veta (Rathgeber) Wiley. Beverly married James McKanna on June 22, 1958. They were married for 67 years.
Beverly graduated from Kiowa High School. She worked as a Librarian at the Medicine Lodge Library. She was a member of First Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband, James; children, Janet (Terry) Miller of Salem, Oregon, Mike McKanna and Carolyn of Attica and Christa (Michael) Cartwright of Grand Lake, Oklahoma; brother, Gary Wiley of Andover; sister, Letha Strack of Medicine Lodge; grandchildren, Haley (Jack) Lipkin, Tad (Martina) Smith, Kacie (Chuck) Dirks, Brody (Heather) VanDegrift, Corey (Crystal) McKanna and Kyle McKanna; and great-grandchildren, Makaveli Gresham, Asher Smith, Rick Dirks, Kason VanDegrift and Kamdyn VanDegrift.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles "Bud" Wiley; and sister, Shirley Carroll.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 20, 2025 at First Christian Church Medicine Lodge, with Pastor Tom Walters presiding.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Lincoln Library.
