(SUMMERS) RICHTERMEYER
Beverly Ann (Summers) Richtermeyer, 91, died on December 7th, 2023. She donated her body to the University of Missouri-Columbia, School of Medicine, Gift of Body Program. Memorial services will be held at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Grand Pass Missouri on March 23rd, 2024, at 11:00 am. Visitation will precede the Memorial Service beginning at 10 am with a lunch following in the church fellowship hall. Private family interment will be held later at Mt. Nebo Cemetery at Grand Pass. In lieu of flowers, memorials toward post-secondary education fund for Brooke and Bridget will be appreciated. Their continued education was very important to Beverly.
She was born March 29, 1932, to the late Llroy Burdette and Elna Aurel (Ficke) Summers outside of Hardin, MO near the Crooked River in the family home. She was the oldest of five children. She attended a one room school until her family moved to Grand Pass, Mo. Attending high school in Grand Pass. She married Herbert Richtermeyer December 17, 1950, at the Methodist Church in Malta Bend Mo. She went on to attend Missouri Valley College receiving a bachelor's degree in education. Later, she received advanced degrees from Central Missouri State University and University of Missouri.
During the Korean War, while serving in the US Air Force, her husband was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska where they made a home. Their daughter, Lisa Ann, was born in 1954 while in Anchorage. After returning to Grand Pass, their second daughter, Lita Kay was born in 1957.
Beverly taught many children in the Carrollton and Marshall School District through the years. As a child advocate, she worked relentlessly to help all students learn to the best of their abilities. In her lifetime, she loved horses and was active in the Grand Pass Saddle Club. She enjoyed her love of horses with her kids and grandchildren. Especially trail riding in the local area and southern Missouri. She was a 4-H club leader for many years. Also, a 40 plus year member of the daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of the Blackburn and Grand Pass United Church of Christ.
Survived by her husband, Herbert; daughters, Lisa (Michael) Shemwell of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Lita (Edgar) Jimenez of St. Charles, Illinois. Four grandchildren, Sarah, Kerry, Michael, and Carly, three great grandchildren Jackson, Ella, and Leo. Great-nieces Bridget and Brooke Summers of the home. Siblings include Elson Summers (Colleen) of Higginsville, MO, Sylvia (Gerald) Lane, Woodridge, Illinois, Dan (Lynda) of Buckner, MO and numerous nieces and nephews Preceded in death by her parents, brother, Samuel Summers, and sister-in-law Colleen Summers.
