Beverly Trask Ricker
White River Jct., VT - Beverly Trask Ricker, 97, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, at The Village at White River Junction, where she had resided for the past three years.
Born Beverly Lois Trask on November 25, 1928, at home in East Brookfield, VT, she was the third child of Robert and Ella Trask. Beverly was raised on family farms in East Brookfield and Bethel, where she developed a lifelong appreciation for farming and Jersey cows. She graduated from Randolph High School in 1947.
Following high school, Beverly attended Sheldon Academy of Beauty Culture in Burlington, VT, where she proudly graduated first in her class. While commuting from the family farm in Bethel to Burlington, she met her bus driver, Alvin Ricker. Beverly and Alvin were married on April 28, 1951, at the Wilder Congregational Church, sharing 74 years of marriage until Alvin's passing in October 2025.
Together, Beverly and Alvin built a life in Wilder, where they raised their four children and lived until 2023. She co-owned and operated The Beauty Lounge in White River Junction, serving the community for many years until her retirement in 1990.
Beverly lived a full and active life, marked by hard work, generosity, and a deep love for family and community. She found great joy in tending her gardens, preserving the bounty of each season through canning and pickling, and carrying on cherished traditions, most notably making dozens of her famous raised donuts each year to share with family and at sugar-on-snow church suppers.
A devoted member of the Greater Hartford United Church of Christ, Beverly served her church faithfully in many roles over the years, including as Deacon and helping to organize and work church suppers. She was also actively involved with the Bugbee Senior Center, where she delivered Meals on Wheels, waited tables at community lunches, participated in quilting groups, and served on the Board of Directors for 25 years, nearly 20 of those as Chair, retiring from that role at the age of 93.
Beverly was an accomplished quilter, creating many beautiful handmade pieces that will be treasured by family and friends. In 2019, she was honored with the People's Choice Award at the Billings Farm & Museum Annual Quilt Exhibition, a recognition of both her skill and artistry.
For 40 summers, Beverly and Alvin enjoyed their camp on Mascoma Lake, a place that became the heart of countless cherished memories. She delighted in hosting family and friends, watching her grandchildren play and grow, kayaking well into her 80s, and organizing competitive croquet matches.
Above all, Beverly cherished her role as "Nana" to her seven grandchildren. She was a constant and loving presence in their lives, attending school events, sporting games, graduations, and all major milestones.
Beverly was predeceased by her husband, Alvin Ricker; her parents, Robert and Ella Trask; her sister, Shirley Young; her brother, Nelson Trask; her son, Stewart Ricker; her daughter, Sandra Gour; and her granddaughter, Ashley Ricker.
She is survived by her son, Allyn Ricker and wife Charlene, and their children, Allyson (David) Klosterman, Sara Ricker, and Adam Ricker; her daughter, Marie Martin and husband Scott, and their children, Brian (Jessica) Martin and Lindsay (Ryan) Mullen; her grandson, Ernie (Bobee) Gour; her granddaughter, Nicole (Rob) Wheeler; her daughter-in-law, Noel Maull; nine great-grandchildren; her brothers, Lloyd Trask and Elbert Trask, her sisters, Ellen(Larry) Noble and Rachel Abbott and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service to celebrate Beverly and Alvin's lives will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Bugbee Senior Center or the Greater Hartford United Church of Christ.
Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Village at White River Junction, Bayada Hospice and Dr. Sarah Logan for their compassionate care and support.
