Edward D. "Ted" Ricker, age 78, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Savior at his home on Thursday morning, March 12, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on July 18, 1947, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Ted was the son of the late Edward Ricker Sr. and Margaret (Judd) Ricker. He married the love of his life, Linda (Lodzieski) Ricker, on October 14, 1972, in their hometown of Chagrin Falls. Together, they shared more than 53 years of marriage and built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, commitment, and love.
Ted is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Ricker, and by his cherished daughters and sons‑in‑law- Aimee and Christopher Smart, West Chester, OH & Jennifer and Andrew Knowles, Bainbridge, OH. He was a proud and loving grandfather to: Matthew Smart, Margaret "Maggie" Smart, Madison "Madi" Knowles, Isabella "Bella" Knowles, Jacob "JAK" Knowles, and Hailey Knowles. He is also survived by his brother-in-law- Mitchell Barry, sister-in-law- Eleanor "Tootsie" Avery, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
A proud U.S. Army Vietnam War Veteran, Ted carried the discipline, precision, and integrity he learned in service into his professional life as a Mechanical Engineer, where he worked for many years with dedication and excellence.
In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his sister- Betty Lou Barry.
Ted will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering commitment to family, and the deep love he showed to all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his loved ones. He wanted to be known as a Christian first.
Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry Street, Wilmington with Pastor Mike Anderson officiating. The Wilmington American Legion Post #49 Honor Squad will accord military honors following the service in recognition of Ted's honorable service to his country.
The family will receive friends from noon until the time of services on Friday, March 20 at the funeral home.
