Beverly Gayle Cullins Shuffield of Temple, Texas passed away on May 29th, 2025 at the age of 73.
Gayle was born on November 30th, 1951, in Houston, Texas to Gene Fowler Cullins and Jewel Aletha Ellington Cullins.
She graduated from Katy High School in 1970, where she was actively involved in FHA and Cheerleading, and graduated with her associate’s degree in dental hygiene from Wharton County Junior College in 1973. She then moved to Temple, Tx where she met Wilburn Van Shuffield.
She and Van were married on July 20th, 1974, in Katy, Texas. She was a retired dental hygienist who served patients in Temple and Ft. Worth for 39 years, and an active member of the Texas Dental Hygienist’s Association where she served on the board. She was a long-time supporter of the Katy Tigers and the Katy Police Officer’s Association. She loved to knit when she could, was an avid reader, especially of her bible, but her favorite thing was spending time with family.
Gayle is survived by her husband Wilburn Van, daughters Kalyn & husband Randall Hernandez, Kari & husband Steven Christensen, little best friend and granddaughter Mazdyn Piper Hernandez, her mother Jewel Cullins, sister Sherri Lynn & husband Jerry Murrow, brother-in-law Harvie Lindeman, several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews, and 5 grand dogs.
She is preceded in death by her father Gene Cullins, father-in-law Wilburn Elma Shuffield, mother-in-law Minnie Alvina Shuffield, brothers Larry Gene Cullins, Everett Ray Patterson, brother-in-law Garlen Lynn Shuffield, brother-in-law Jay Harvey, sister Janis Kaye Lindeman, sister-in-law Ada Odesa Bryant.
Visitation will be from 6 till 8pm on Friday, June 6th, 2025, at Dossman Funeral Home, 2525 N Main St, Belton, TX 76513. Followed by funeral service at 2pm, on Saturday, June 7th, 2025, at Dossman Funeral Home. Officiated by Gary Anthony, Worship & Care Pastor, First Baptist Church, Temple, Tx.
Gayle will be laid to rest at a later time at Little Flock Cemetery, Temple, Tx.
Flower arrangements have been provided by Woods Flowers of Temple, Tx.
