Beverly Ann (Oliver) Smith passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Until the very end, Beverly remained a woman of kindness, grace, and compassion, always demonstrating her deep love for family and friends. She faithfully honored and shared her love for Jesus and the Heaven that awaited her.
Born in Deridder, Louisiana, on June 1, 1942, to Ed and Gertrude Oliver, Beverly was the eldest of three sisters and three brothers. She married Thomas Wayne Smith and, through his service in the Air Force, lived in many places before finally settling in the Lake Charles area, where they raised three sons among many cherished friends and family.
She is survived by her son, Randall Wayne Smith, and his daughters, Casey Smith Price and her husband, David; Brandi Talbert and her husband, Brad; as well as her great-grandchildren, Madison Stockman and her husband, Brayden; Payton Talbert; Elijah Price; Taylor Sharp; Emma Sharp; Logan Sharp; Claire Talbert; and Avery Talbert.
Son, Stephen Smith, and his wife, Trish; daughter, Kallie Smith; son, Dakota Smith, and his wife, Johnna; Corbett Reed, and his wife, Melissa and great-grandchildren, Lucas Smith, Lennon Smith, and Makaela Hilton.
Also, brother, Bob Oliver, and his wife, Robbin, of Houston, Texas, along with their daughter, Ashli Buchtler, her husband, Sean, and their children, Braxton and Kinsley. Her brother, John Oliver of Monroe, and his daughter, Kristina.
Her sister, Mona Burris, and her husband, Dean, of Lafayette, their three children: Vaughn Burris and his wife, Jennifer, of Bossier City, along with their two children, Grant Burris of Lafayette and Victoria Burris Gunawan, her husband, Tony, and their daughter, Eleanor, of Galloway, Ohio. Their daughter, Kimberly Burris Jeter, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Baton Rouge, along with their family members, Emily Batton, Jackson Jeter, Samuel Jeter, and Laurel Kate Jeter, share in the grief of Beverly’s passing. Their son, Matthew Burris, and his wife, Mandee, of Post Falls, Idaho, along with their son, Jackson Burris, will also deeply miss her.
Many more family members remain to cherish her memory, including the families of Dawn Sumner Milam, Debora Sumner Borman, Brent Sumner, Brian Sumner, and Don Oliver.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Gertrude Oliver; her brother, Don Oliver; her sister, Glenda Oliver Sumner; her nephew, Brian Sumner; her grandson, Michael Reed; and her beloved son, Timothy Smith.
Timothy, born with special needs, became the center of Beverly’s world. She devoted every moment to his care and well-being. His unexpected passing left an immense void in her life, and she grieved as only a mother can for the loss of a child.
Special thanks to the nursing staff at St. Joseph Hospice and High Hope Care Center, as well as all the wonderful caregivers who blessed her with their kindness, care, and prayers.
Services will be held at 3PM, Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur, LA. with visitation from 11AM-3PM until the time of service. Final burial will take place at Richey Cemetery in Moss Bluff, Louisiana.
