Beverly Briggs Smith

Beverly (Kelley) Briggs Smith of Corpus Christi left this earthly life on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at the age of 96. Beverly was born August 13, 1929 in DeQuincy, Louisiana to F.M. and Gertrude Kelley. Beverly lived in the Humble Camp in Katy, Texas and graduated in 1948 from Katy High School. She met and married Jimmy Lee Briggs at the Humble Camp and they were married on August 19, 1949. They resided in Katy until 1960 when they moved to Kingsville, Texas and remained in Kingsville until 1981 when Jimmy's work brought him back to Katy, Texas. Beverly also resided in DeQuincy, Louisiana and Bishop, Texas.

Beverly is preceded in death by her parents F.M. and Gertrude Kelley, husband(s) Jimmy Lee Briggs and Eugene Smith. Beverly was also preceded in death by her son Jimmy Wayne Briggs, daughter Patricia Estes and grandson Robby Lee Briggs.

She is survived by her children Karol Kay Bone (Terry) of Katy, sons Robert Briggs (Susan) of Katy and Kelley Briggs (Mikki) of Eagle River, Alaska and her sister Barbara Kelley Walshak of Corpus Christi. Beverly is survived by grandchildren Colter Lewis (Elizabeth), Justin Estes (Niki), Tracy Johnson (Steve), Alex Briggs and Savannah Briggs, Kimberly Nix Svatek and Jeffrey Nix. Great grandchildren Warner and Cadence Johnson, Ryan, Nathan and Natalie Lewis; Corbin and Benjamin Estes, Madeline Briggs Daulton, Britni Simpson, Darion Nix and Katara Nix. She is also survived by nephews Byron Walshak (Gaye) and Mark Walshak.

Visitation will be Monday, October 20 from 11:00 – 1:00 at Schmidt Funeral Home located at 1344 W. Grand Parkway South, Katy, Texas 77494. Burial will follow at 2:00 at Magnolia Cemetery located at 6801 Franz Rd, Katy, Texas 77493.
