Pegi Jean Spurlin, born on September 13, 1942, in Katy, Texas, passed away on December 12, 2025, in Madisonville, Texas at 83 years of age. Pegi was the beloved daughter of Vernon and Peggy (Bennett) Wright and graduated from high school in her hometown of Katy.

Throughout her life, Pegi held various jobs, starting with her early years at Gal Bee Farm. She worked as a real estate agent for Calvin Walker and eventually became the owner of the Leona General Store, which still bears the name she gave it, now as a popular steakhouse. In 1985, Pegi married James Spurlin, and they cherished forty wonderful years together.

Pegi became co-owner and operator of Statewide Crude, where she managed bookkeeping and played a crucial role in the business's success. Even though she was not one to seek recognition, she was instrumental in launching numerous church organizations at All Around Cowboy Church. Pegi was also a dedicated supporter of ranch rodeo and local high school rodeo, baseball and softball events, reflecting her deep commitment to the community.

In her younger years, Pegi enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening, hunting, and fishing. She embraced the joys of teaching her children and grandchildren how to shoot a gun, sharing with them the love of the outdoors. Her family was everything to her, and she would go to great lengths for them, often emphasizing the importance of family bonds. Pegi also had a special affection for her dog, Butterball, who brought her much joy.

Pegi was preceded in death by both of her parents and brother, Doyle Wright.

Pegi is survived by her loving husband, James Spurlin; children, Joe Haris (Dondi), Robin Harris (Joanna), Darel Harris (Cindy), Kelly Harris (Teresa), Darrell Spurlin (Bobby), Kim Spurlin, Ashley Spurlin (Tristin) and Carlee Spurlin; grandchildren and their spouses, Laci, Rowdi, Rachel, Kara, Kyle, Megan, Trent, Chance, Ashley, Whitney, Colton, Cort, Cade, Brittany, Justin, Paisley, Gavin, Jessick, Cheslee, Destiny, Shanoal, Kyla and Nathanial; twenty-seven great-grandchildren, with four on the way; as well as a host of extended family and special friends.

Pegi Jean Spurlin will be dearly missed, but her spirit and contributions to her family and community will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A visitation and gathering of friends and loved ones will be held from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., Friday, December 19, 2025, at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas, where all are invited to share stories and reminisce on the incredible legacy Pegi left behind.

A private family graveside will take place on Saturday, December 20, 2025, officiated by Bro. Lee Weiler. Following the service, all are once again invited to gather for a meal in Pegi's honor from 12:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M., held at the Leona Community Center, Leona, Texas.
