Perry Wayne Sword was born on July 23, 1954, in Houston, Texas, and passed away at his home in Katy, Texas, on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the age of 71.

He was the son of Harold Albert Sword and Bertha Pauline "Polly" Harrison.

He was an avid hunter and gun enthusiast, and hunted out of Doss, Texas (near Fredericksburg) for 54 years. He was a 1972 graduate of Katy High School and attended Sam Houston State University. He earned the Lone Star Farmer degree from Katy Future Farmers of

America, and later, he became an honorary member of the Katy Future Farmers of America. He served as State Vice President for the Texas Young Farmers' Association, as well as in other local offices. He served on the Board of Harris County Farm Bureau.

In 1980, Perry Sword and his family, and the Katy Young Farmers Chapter established the Randall Beckendorff Memorial Scholarship fund in honor of his deceased brother-in-law, Randy Beckendorff.

Perry was a rice and soybean farmer for 11 years, then he worked at Katy Independent School District as a journeyman plumber for 33 years, retiring in 2014. There, he was awarded the Specialty Trades Craft Employee of the Year Award in 2007-2008, 2009-2010, and 2011-2012.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Harold Lester Sword and Larry K. Sword.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kay Beckendorff Sword; sons Christopher Sword, Kyle Sword (Matty); grandchildren Kaylee Rodriguez (Gustavo),

Erin Oncken (Clay), Jackson Sword, Dru Sword (Greg King); great grandchildren, Kollins & Gustavo Rodriguez, and Krew King; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 18th, 2026, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Katy, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 19th, 2026, with Pastor Terry McGuire officiating. His ashes will be scattered in his favorite places at the hunting camp on the Sieckmann Ranch.
