Larry Sword Obituary

Larry Timothy Sword, age 65, of Springfield, TN passed away at his home on March 27th, 2026. Larry was born on December 25th, 1960 to the late William “Bill” Sword and Ida “Pearl” Yeomans Cornett in Tallahassee, FL. Throughout his life, Larry distinguished himself through dedication to his family and his work in the construction industry. He is survived by his son Dwayne (Melissa) Sword, grandchildren Briley and Arabella, brother Eddie West, sister Elaine Myrick, and niece Felicia Tate. He is also survived by his best friend Kay Parks, her daughter Jessica (Wayne) Norwood, and her children Caidence and Lane. Although he is gone his memory will forever remain in those who he held dearly.

A committed professional, Larry had a tremendous work ethic and took pride in everything he did. Larry worked closely with his son at Double Edge Builders, where he served as a project manager. Supporting his son and all of the work they did, he would always wear his signature shirt sporting the company’s logo proudly. In his time working there he was a project manager, he oversaw the interior finishings of residential properties, ensuring quality and attention to detail. Among his notable contributions was his work on the Robertson County Historical Museum, a project reflecting his commitment to preserving local heritage. Never truly retired, he would still gather in morning huddles with his work crew to keep involved with the daily schedule. Larry also took great pride in helping to build his son's home, a testament to his deep familial bonds and craftsmanship.

He also like to contribute to his community by volunteering with the Robertson County Players Club, where he served concessions, crafting specialty hot dogs and barbecue. This enjoyment of culinary arts was yet another avenue through which he expressed his generosity and spirit.

Larry was known for his lively and engaging personality. He was fun-loving and talkative, with a unique ability to connect with anyone he met. Larry never knew a stranger, and his natural inclination to cut up and engage in spirited conversation endeared him to many. Being the person he was, he had both profound empathy and sympathy that allowed him to fit seamlessly into any setting.

As a hobby, Larry had a deep appreciation for antique cars, finding joy not only in their history but in their care. He took great pride in cleaning and detailing each vehicle, treating every curve and chrome finish with patience and precision. For him, it wasn’t just a hobby—it was a peaceful ritual and a true labor of love. He also enjoyed attending car shows when the opportunity arose.

Of all his achievements, Larry regarded his family as his proudest accomplishment. His love for his children and grandchildren was a defining aspect of his life, providing him with joy and purpose.
