John Wilson Obituary

John Lee Wilson, age 62, of Greenbrier, TN passed away at his home on February 20th, 2026. John was born in Springfield, TN, on August 5th, 1963. He was able to live a life that was rich in family, friends, and time spent in the great outdoors.

John is preceded in death by his mother Faye Daniel Wilson, his paternal grandparents Elmer and Annie Wilson, as well as his maternal grandparents John and Ruby Daniel. He is survived by his beloved wife Melissa Smith Wilson, his father Herman (Georgia) Wilson, sister Julia (Mark) Bennett, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his constant companions Poppy, Jake, Emma, and Molly. Although he is gone his memory will forever reside within them all.

From an early age, he displayed a profound love for the great outdoors, fondly recalling moments spent riding alongside his father in the farm truck, feeding baby cows, awakening a passion that would follow him through life. This love for nature not only shaped his early years but carried him through decades as he nurtured friendships and explored the winding trails on his side-by-side.

John's career was a testament to his dedication and ingenuity; he proudly owned and operated his own trucking company and thrived as a mechanic up until his retirement. His hands, often caked with oil and dust, served not only as tools of trade but as vessels of love as he poured his heart into every project.

His true happiness unfolded around the warmth of gatherings, with evenings often spent by the fire pit, where laughter echoed against the backdrop of the starry night. A true master of the grill, John was awarded the coveted 'Pig Award' by friends at the lake, a recognition of his culinary prowess. He particularly enjoyed cooking up meals that brought people together. Sharing food and meals one of his greatest love languages, and found immense joy in smoking meats alongside his dear friend Robert, serving the entire campground with pride.

John’s generous spirit was magnified in moments spent gardening, nurturing his plot of land with the same love he poured into relationships. His ability to connect with those around him, whether deep in conversation or simply sharing the quiet of a sunset, made him a steadfast presence in the lives of many.

Surrounded by family in the comfort of his home, John transitioned from this world, leaving behind a tapestry of memories woven with affection, laughter, and shared meals. He is survived by a vibrant community of friends who will forever honor the spirit of camaraderie and love he embodied.

A memorial gathering will take place on March 1, 2026, starting at 12:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM, both held at the Springfield Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 4005 Memorial Blvd, Springfield, TN 37172.

As we remember John Lee Wilson, let us carry forward his legacy—a legacy filled with laughter by the fire, joy in nature, and love expressed through the simple act of sharing a meal.
