Beverly S. "Susie" (Hayden) Stefl, 85, of Latrobe, passed away Friday, September 12, 2025, at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital.
Born December 12, 1939, in Greensburg, she was the daughter of the late Earl Hayden and Catherine (Kepple) Hayden.
Susie began her career with Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator and remained with the company after it was acquired by Verizon. She then retired from Verizon as a clerk in the business office. One of her favorite hobbies was QVC shopping, and she had a very generous heart towards veterans and animal organizations. Nothing was more important to Susie than spending time with her family. Family game nights were a favorite pastime, especially playing competitive games of Rummikub or Left, Center, Right. She loved to celebrate any special occasion from birthdays to holidays, sporting events, and special achievements. Susie loved to bake Christmas cookies with her daughter and grandchildren and in her younger years, she enjoyed amusement parks, especially riding roller coasters. She adored her grandchildren and considered her great-grandchild one of the biggest blessings in her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald W. Stefl, and two sisters, Earla Jean McKeel and Dolores DeFloria.
Susie is survived by a daughter, Ronni Brackney and her husband, Robert Jr., of Latrobe; four grandchildren, Madison, Michael, Megan, and McKenna Brackney; one great-grandson, Brooks Ryder Brackney; several nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat, Penny.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the Lopatich-Brinker Funeral Home, LLC, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Jess Felici officiating. Interment will follow at St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg.
