Beverly Johann Steinke (nee Saeger) 92 was born to eternal life on July 23, 2025. Bev was born on September 28 th, 1932 at Milwaukee Country General Hospital and grew up on 12 th street in Milwaukee as one of 4 children. She met the love of her life Erwin "Duke" Steinke in the alleyway between their houses the summer after her sophomore year of high school and they never left each other's side again. Bev graduated from Ruffus King High school in June of 1950 and married Erwin on October 14, 1950.
Bev's first job was when she was a senior in high school working for Schuster's in Milwaukee. Over the years she worked for Weyenburg Shoe Company, Addison and Werner phone company, JC Penny's, cleaned houses, and worked in the lunch program for the Menomonee Falls Public schools and was a Girl Scout leader for many years. Once her 4 children were grown and out of the house and she became a grandmother she became a professional seamstress for Canvasbacks in Milwaukee and worked for Wicker Plus in Germantown, WI. Bev loved these places of employment. Bev and Erwin were also members of Holy Cross Lutheran church and did everything from being Sunday school teachers, ushers, readers, and greeters. They both served as Matron and Pardon of the Aurora Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of Menomonee Falls, WI, they loved serving the community anyway possible.
Bev never truly retired as she stopped working in the corporate world, she became a full time Grandmother and Great Grandmother. The house always had family in it, whether it was her children, grandchildren, neighbors, friends, or extended family, they loved to entertain. When the grandchildren came around you would find one of them always there either swimming in the pool, on the swing set, painting the back door with water, playing the piano, or someone learning how to sew. She was even able to teach one of her Great Grandchildren to sew, she thought this was an important life skill you would always need to use. Bev was a one-of-a-kind person who loved her family and faith more than anything else in the world and will be deeply missed.
Beverly is survived by: Her brother Richard (Pearl) Saeger, her 4 children: Lynda(Jim) Doberstein, Philip(Jean), Timothy, Scott(Karen) Steinke, her 10 Grandchildren: Andy(Jenni), Matt(Lauren), Norah(Lucas), Cindy(Brandon), Libby(Brian), PJ(Megan), Jan(Brian), Nancy(Jeff), Bill(Julie), Olivia(Isaiah).
