Beverly Ann McElveen Suggs, 82, died peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2024. She was born on January 27, 1942. She graduated from Paxon High School in Jacksonville, Florida where she was a cheerleader and active in the Methodist church.
Beverly worked for the US Government and as a Surgical Coordinator for Southern Eye Institute. She married Allen Suggs Jr. and lived in the Jacksonville area her whole life. Beverly was very creative and loved to paint and draw. Beverly was also active in the Sketchers in Provence group.
She spent many extended vacations at the family cabin in Cherry Log, Georgia and in Key West. Beverly was confined to a wheelchair for many years due to Multiple Sclerosis. However, she never let that slow her down and never saw herself as disabled. Beverly remained active and especially loved challenging anyone to a word game. She often saw artwork and said "I can do that" and then recreated it with her own flair.
Beverly is survived by her two children: Dawn (Michael)Fichtner of Neptune Beach, FL and Allen Suggs III (Pamela Lutes) of Mt. Dora, FL: five grandchildren: Connor and Blakely Fichtner and Kiley, Charlotte and Ella Suggs. Her ashes will be laid to rest in a private family service.

I was sorry to read of Beverly's death. She attended my wedding in 1962 in SC. I had gone to school with her at Paxon until I moved away the middle of our junior year. She will be missed at Paxon's 65th high school reunion.
