Beverly Snell Scudder Wallwork was born on October 26, 1931 to Harriet Victoria and Edward Brownell Snell and lived her childhood in Assonet, MA with her brothers, Wayne, Merrill, and Kendall Snell, and twin sister, Beryl Kenyon. Beverly excelled at reciting poetry and began studying to be a teacher at Bridgewater State College.
Beverly worked summers at Wimpy's in Osterville where she met Freeman C. Scudder ("Bud"). They married on October 27, 1951 and lived their life together in Osterville with 4 children: Cheryl Belanger (Nelson), Stuart ("Rusty") Scudder, Alison Ingraham (Rick), and Doug Scudder (Charlotte). Bev and Bud had a wonderful marriage for 46 years. Bev worked as a seamstress and always lived an active life: walking her dogs, sailing, skiing, and skating. They were members of Osterville United Methodist Church. Bev was also predeceased by Donald "Mo" Wallwork, her second husband. For many years and up to her death she was blessed with a fun, loving relationship with Ronnie Gifford. They shared many adventures together.
Bev spent her last 8 years living at Bridges in Mashpee and built friendships with residents and staff alike.
Bev will be missed greatly by her children, 8 grandchildren: Aaron, Rory, Nicole, Spencer, Danielle, Abigail, Ben, and Jon. She has five great grandchildren. She will be remembered for how she loved family and friends, her quick wit and how she lived life to the fullest.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, March 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Osterville United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Family Support of Cape Cod (alzfamilysupport.org) and Bridges by Epoch Mashpee, memo: Employee Christmas fund, 462 Old Barnstable Rd, Mashpee 02649.
