It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Beverly Jane (Stooks) Walters on Sunday, March 8th, 2026 at the age of 87.
Beverly was born on January 20, 1939, to Wallace and Eleanor Stooks. She was the oldest of seven children and grew up in the
Detroit, Michigan area. As a child, she easily made friends, enjoyed school and deeply loved spending time on her grandparents' farm where she grew a love for horses. Her grace and beauty ran deep – both inside and out. As a senior in high school, she competed and won the title of "Miss Siren" through the local fire departments in the area, shining with her unwavering confidence, kindness, boundless strength and determination to be a winner in life. Her warrior spirit was evident to the end, after her 24+ years with Parkinson's, never complaining about the diagnosis she was given. Simply, being in her presence - made it very easy to love her.
At the age of 17, she met the man of her dreams, our dad James H. Walters, and they married on June 1, 1957. Soon they had four children to raise and together, they shared 65 inseparable and loving years, building a life full of love, joy, and amazing memories to be forever cherished.
Our mom's number one priority was her family and her desire to instill a spirit in her children of high values, morals, a good work ethic, and to be loving and kind. We challenged her many times, but her unconditional love gave us the courage to strive for greatness and not settle – a bar she held high. We knew when we tested her and she responded with "Ok for you" we better re-think some of our poor decision making as we would never want to be on her bad side! She was gentle but strong, reasonable but firm, light-hearted but strong-willed, and loved hard when it came to her family.
In 1973, they moved to Alpena, Michigan, where they bought and ran Mobility Sports Center, a motorcycle and snowmobile business where mom played an important role in the business managing daily operations and sales. That's where all us kids learned and establish work ethic as we had no choice but to work in the family business – something we are now all so thankful for. In 1982, our parents moved to
Rockwall, Texas, where they made their home of over 40 years. Beverly spent several years managing a motorcycle shop before later joining the Dallas World Trade Center, where she managed a high-end furniture showroom until her retirement. She was highly respected and loved by everyone who she touched.
Beverly was happiest when her home was filled with the people she loved. Sunday dinners, family gatherings, celebrations, and afternoons spent around the pool became cherished traditions for her children and grandchildren that she loved so dearly. She often disappeared, only to find her inside making her famous lemonade or desserts for everyone (sweets were her favorite!) She was a devoted wife and a dedicated mother who poured her heart into caring for her family.
Those left behind cherishing her memory are her 4 children; Patricia Walters, James Walters (Twyla), Kimberlee Walters-Sanders (Doug), Lisa Sagnibene (Joe); honorary son Steve Mischloney; 11 Grandchildren; Adam Coblentz, AJ Coblentz, Brianna Wilkes, Alora Wilkerson, J. Mason Sagnibene, Cody Sagnibene, J. Maxwell Walters, Haylee Hood, Jayden Sagnibene, Emilee Sanders, and Casen Sanders; 17 great-grandchildren; Surviving Brothers: Bryant Stooks, Russell Stooks, David Stooks, and countless nieces and nephews.
