Martha Sue Courson

Martha Sue Carter Courson passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, surrounded by family, at the age of 89. She was born to Kate Elizabeth Carter and Richard Rollie Carter on October 19, 1936, in Cooper, Texas.

Sue was a beloved mother, grandmother, and GiGi whose life was marked by her faith and love of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will be remembered for her love for her family, her strength, and the many ways she cared for others throughout her life.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Jimmy Wayne Courson, her grandson, Matthew Thomas Dunn, and survived by her four children, Kathy Dunn and husband, Larry, of Dallas, TX, Cindy Bietendorf and husband, Alan, of Rockwall, TX, Kris Courson and wife, Frances, of Helena, AL, and Kyle Courson and wife, Dayna, of Flowery Branch, GA. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren who loved her dearly and who will continue to cherish her memory.

A memorial service will be held at Rest Haven Funeral Home and Memorial Park, located at 2500 State Highway 66 East in Rockwall, on Sunday, March 22. Visitation begins at 1:00 pm with a service starting at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America or to 2nd Chance Baptist Church in Farmers Branch, TX at 2ndchancebc.org
