Roberts Funeral Home - Sherwood Chapel - WoosterBrenda Kay Kinney Courson, 84, of Wooster, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster with her family by her side.
She was born January 15, 1941 in Ashland to Leon and Dortha {Graybill} Fockler.
She graduated from Ashland High School and married Mike Kinney. She then married William J. Courson.
Brenda dedicated 18 years to the Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce, where she formed countless lifelong friendships. She was an active member of the Wooster United Methodist Church and the Wooster Noon Lions Club. Brenda loved being involved in community and social events, but nothing brought her more joy than the time she spent with her family and friends.
Brenda will be deeply missed by her children, Kelley (Denny Garn) Kinney, Mike (Diane) Kinney, Kim (Carlos) Owen, Krista (Ted) Amstutz, stepchildren Bill Jr. (Ginger) Courson, Becky (Will) Moore, and Todd (Whitney) Courson; step daughter-in-law Cindy Courson, 21 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husbands, son Mark Kinney, stepchildren Scott Courson and Susan Beth Courson, and sister Sue Crist.
Services will be Saturday, December 13 at 11 a.m. at the Wooster United Methodist Church, 243 North Market Street (and livestreamed at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com/obituaries/Brenda-Courson) with Pastor David Rittgers officiating.
A Celebration of Brenda’s life will follow in the fellowship hall immediately after the service until 2 p.m. Private burial will be at New Pittsburg Cemetery. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wooster United Methodist Church, the Wooster Noon Lions Club, 305 Mulberry St., Wooster, OH 44691, or Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
