Beverly Ann Wennermark, age 80, passed away just after 11pm on the first day of spring 2023, but was officially declared deceased in the very early hours of the following morning, March 21, 2023. Beverly was born December 27, 1942, in
Waco, Texas. Her family moved to Houston where her brother and sister were born. They came to San Antonio when she was age seven in the second grade. She took all kinds of dance classes when growing up and as an adult. When in high school she was in Pep Squad, Drill Team, and Golden Choir, singing at local churches and auditoriums. She worked for several years at USAA, Gary Swimming Pools, the YMCA, and Southwest Airlines until marriage. After many years of living in San Antonio, she and her family moved to
Comfort, Texas, in February 1978; then in November of that same year moved to
Boerne, Texas. She was a devoted and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in a variety of callings throughout the years. One of her favorite callings was working with the Young Women and attending Girls Camp with them; another was Gospel Doctrine teacher, which gave her the opportunity to study and learn much.
Beverly had a passion for cooking and loved to create new recipes, sharing them with friends at her luncheons and dinners, and once for the local newspaper. She decorated for all holidays but her favorite times were in February and October when she had parties. She loved art, symphonies, ballet, and opera. Being a seventh generation Texan, with famous ancestors, she always talked about how she loved Texas, its beauty and rich history.
Beverly leaves her children and grandchildren the legacy of not only her recipes but her poems, stories, songs, and all her other writings, plus an extensive family history dating back into the Dark Ages in France and royalty in Europe back to year 0006 and another line back to 55 BC in Jerusalem.
Her longing for a very large family inspired her love for finding ancestors and relatives. She talked excitedly about her desire to know them all, and she now is with them and her husband and her two children who passed away many years earlier.
She is preceded in death by her beloved and devoted husband, John David Wennermark; a son, Friend Ferguson Wennermark; a daughter, Jennifer Roxanne Wennermark; her parents, Marvin Layton and Dorothy Mae Shumate; and her brother, John Carroll Shumate. She is survived by her children: Catherine Denice Fredericksen,
Flower Mound, Texas; Valorie Lynne Connally,
Boerne, Texas; Jared Layton (and Lori) Wennermark,
Burleson, Texas; and Christopher Langston Wennermark,
Boerne, Texas; stepchildren John David (and Robbie) Wennermark, Jr.,
San Antonio, Texas, and Leslie Kathleen (and Triple) Kocurek, Center Point, Texas; and her sister, Janet (and Don) Moore,
Spring Branch, Texas. Beverly also has 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
