Obituary
Beverly Stromstad Zehrung was born Dec, 2 1927, in Ambrose, North Dakota to Bennie and Esther (Robertson) Stromstad. She passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 2, 2022 in Loveland, Colorado at the age of 94.
One of five children, she was raised in Alkabo, N.D. where she spent her summers helping on the family farm. The only girl in the family, she was responsible for weeding and watering the garden and canning fruits and vegetables for winter. There was no high school in the small town of Alkabo, so she attended school across the state border in Westby, Mont where she graduated as Valedictorian. Beverly later attended one year at Minot State College where she obtained her teaching certificate. She taught elementary school for four years and was the Alkabo girl's basketball coach, leading the team to 3rd place in the state.
Always a woman with big aspirations, she then took a job as a secretary in North Dakota to save money for a move to Denver. That dream was realized when she and two friends hopped on a bus with nothing but their suitcases and moved to Denver, a story she was always proud to tell. It was while she was working as a secretary to the General Agent of Aetna Life Insurance in Denver that she met the love of her life Claude Douglas Zehrung. They were lovingly married on April 11, 1954 and began to build their business and family together.
Beverly and Doug had two children and enjoyed a rich and full life. They successfully built their company, BlueBird International, and traveled all around the world together selling their products. Throughout their travels they met many friends and made countless memories. When their company was sold, products were distributed in all 50 states and 17 foreign countries, something she was especially proud to have accomplished.
Beverly was known for easily making friends everywhere she went and she kept in touch with them regardless where they lived world-wide. While being outside enjoying a good game of golf was an activity she loved, she could also often be found sitting and playing card games, especially bridge and gin rummy. Her love of basketball from her coaching days was something she carried with her throughout her life and she spent many an hour in her final years cheering on her Denver Nuggets.
She is survived by her two children - daughter Cynthia Jensen (Terry) of Fort Collins, Colo., son Mark Zehrung; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one brother, Curt Stromstad, of Rochester, N.Y. She is preceded in death by her husband Doug and her three brothers, Emmet, Allen, and Donald.
A memorial service will be held on April 16, 2022 at the Horan & McConaty Funeral Home in Thornton, CO.
